Editorial Policy
Newsroom Standards & Process
We cover the tech ecosystem with the same rigor that engineers build their products. This is how we work.
1. Reporting Process
Every story starts with a question, not an agenda. Our team interviews multiple sources, reviews public documents, and verifies data before writing a single word. We avoid "access journalism" that trades soft coverage for access to executives.
2. Anonymity and Sourcing
Transparency is our preference. However, we acknowledge that in tech journalism, whistleblowers or employees may face retaliation. We grant anonymity (off-the-record) only if:
- The source provides crucial information we cannot obtain elsewhere.
- The source is in a vulnerable position.
- We know the true identity of the source and have verified their credibility.
3. Embargoes and NDAs
We sometimes agree to news embargoes (delaying publication until a specific time) to give our reporters time for in-depth analysis. We do not sign Non-Disclosure Agreements (NDAs) that give companies veto rights over our coverage.
4. Ad Labeling
The line between editorial and advertising at Bali Alpha is sacred.
- Editorial Content: Written by our journalists, independent of commercial influence.
- Sponsored/Partner Content: Produced in collaboration with advertisers and always labeled "Sponsored" or "Partner Content" at the top of the article.
5. Investments and Stock Trading
Editorial staff are prohibited from covering companies where they hold direct financial investments. If a stock ownership conflict exists (e.g., via mutual funds), it must be disclosed to the managing editor.
6. Solutions Journalism
We don't just report on what's broken. We are also committed to covering solutions, innovations, and ideas that work. Our criticism is constructive, and our praise is evidence-based.
